What a great story =), I love the honesty, high hopes and originality of the third homeless person who approached you heheh,

I don't know if you got the message of this post though, I understand the way the homeless person decides to approach the well off one can play a role in the sensitivity of the connection but my point of the homeless person observation is that in general...most people don't go around looking for less fortunate people to interact with, if they have the option many will try to avoid the situation, it's not giving money that is the inconvenience...It's having to face a cold hard truth about the society they live in...that everything isn't as perfect as it seems as we are all vulnerable to end up like that third homeless person.People go browsing for pictures of cool cars or hot girls, a rare few go googling photos of malnourished or ill children in third world countries...

Cool blog by the way, definitely worth the read ;)

I was in Dundas square (in Toronto, Canada) the other day with a friend taking photos. While I was there, 2 homeless people approached me asking for change. To each of them I gave a little, from my pocket, whatever I grabbed, and wished them a good night. Then, a third man approached me, in a much different way.

He said "I"m sorry to bother you, my names Michael, and I'm homeless right now. I'm hoping that's temporary". I'd really appreciate it if you had anything to spare, I've hit a rough patch and I"m trying to stay positive". The whole time he said this he looked me right in the eyes with a smile. I smiled back, gave him my name, and Wad of U.S ones, that I had in my pocket and a card from my site, spiritsentient.com. He asked what it was for, and I told him we're all about staying positive and that it might benefit him more than the money if he could get to the library.

The point to this story is, 2 people connecting and sharing stories doesn't always result from altering the well off person's insensitivity. It can also come about from the homeless person being vulnerable and altering their approach.
